Why hire a Personal Trainer?
Many people consider working with a Personal Trainer or coach at some point in their life, but what should you consider before you choose a Personal Trainer, and why should you hire one?
Obviously, as a Personal Trainer, I’m biased, but I truly believe everybody can benefit from working with a coach or trainer. A good trainer can change all parts of your life in a positive way and is an investment in your own wellbeing.
The difference between somebody who exercises and somebody who works with a trainer can be striking.
So, what are the benefits of hiring a Personal Trainer?
Accountability - A big barrier for many people trying to be healthy is accountability, it’s all too easy to say let’s skip today or let's just have a drink every evening or order takeaways every week. A trainer will ask you the hard questions and motivate you to consider making better choices. They also will be waiting for you to hit that workout or check in with your latest numbers from the run you said you would do. No hiding.
Education - A good trainer will ensure you know how to train your entire body and make sure you know how to do that safely and with good form. They will question your eating habits if needed and make lifestyle suggestions that could potentially support your health objectives.
Intensity - Many people train at the wrong intensity for their goals and never seem to see or feel progress. A trainer’s job is to ensure that you don’t fall off the wagon and keep moving forward as consistently as possible.
Support - We all face our own barriers in life that can add stress and make it challenging to prioritise our health. A good trainer can listen, empathise, and offer suggestions to perhaps help you see a way forward.
Community - A good coach builds a community of like-minded people all working towards a shared goal and encourages you to become a part of that fantastic environment where you can share your wins and be encouraged to keep going.
Pride and confidence - One of the most important elements of people who are working with a trainer is a sense of pride and confidence that comes from getting stronger and healthier. Knowing that you are strong enough physically and mentally to deal with life and its many challenges is priceless (and to me the number one benefit of working with a trainer)
Fun - A massive part of working with a trainer is that it must feel like fun (even when it’s burpee time). There must be a rapport between client and trainer that keeps things light whilst also challenging.
Personally, as a trainer, I love seeing people grow physically and mentally and for me, it is the reason I do this job. I want everybody to be the strong, confident, healthy superhero that I know they can be; and working with a trainer is a partnership that is life-changing.
So, consider making an investment in a decent trainer to make sure you are putting yourself first and ensuring you have the best chance of leading a happy, healthy, long life, full of confidence and happiness and hopefully reducing your risks of long-term health obstacles.
