Train with the Griffin
Pre & Post Natal
Griffin.fit is a one-stop solution for your health and fitness needs in Oxford city. Over the years I’ve helped many people with their wellness goals. I offer personal training at one of Oxford’s most popular and recently updated gyms, or smaller home-based sessions for one-to-one or partner training.
If you’re looking for more of a boot camp style training, or enjoy being outdoors, I run weekly small group training sessions in Headington Quarry, which are perfect for those on a budget. My Parkfit sessions mix circuits and cardio for a refreshing full-body workout, welcoming all ages and abilities.
To support you with your fitness goals, my sports massage therapy sessions help maintain healthy bodies and speed up the recovery of aching muscles and injured joints. Available as a mobile service for Oxford residents, or at Pure Gym Temple Cowley for members.
My aim is to help you become the best you can be and feel happy and proud in your own skin. Hopefully giving you a more positive, confident outlook on life.
People choose to hire a personal trainer for many reasons. I often ask people why they want a trainer and they say to lose weight, to get stronger, etc. Then I ask them why this is important to them, and the true “why” appears. Some people like the confidence, the energy, or the recognition for their efforts. Others need the accountability of somebody checking their progress, or the push that takes them beyond the level they would by training alone. Whatever the reason is, a trainer is your guide and mentor along the way.
A trainer’s job is to focus on good form and technique with properly designed programming in order to develop your strength, fitness, mobility and stamina with the aim of improving your quality of life whether it be:
FAT LOSS | MUSCLE GAIN | PAIN REDUCTION | FITNESS FOR EVENTS | ANY REASON THAT REQUIRES PHYSICAL IMPROVEMENT
In a supportive, educating environment, the team of trainer and client achieves great things. I’ll track your physical progress with regular assessments as required and offer lifestyle and nutritional advice to further your progress whilst avoiding any fad style training and eating, focusing instead on long term change. The full package of planned training with lifestyle changes when followed correctly always delivers consistent, maintainable results.
Unlike intimidating boot camps, Parkfit is a friendly outdoor session that welcomes all ages and abilities every Saturday at 9am (weather permitting) in Headington, Oxford, next to the pavilion in Margaret Road Recreation Ground.
A mixture of circuits using various equipment such as weighted bags, kettlebells, ropes, and bodyweight exercises give a total body workout with friendly encouragement (no Sargent Majors here). Work to your own ability with friendly, like-minded people in a safe and non-judgemental environment.
GET FRESH AIR | MEET NEW PEOPLE | IMPROVE STRENGTH AND MOBILITY | GET FITTER | HAVE FUN
Nutrition is 80% of the work when trying to attain your physical goals. I offer nutritional advice to help you make the right choices to get your results, from setting your calories and macros through to healthy recipe ideas.
Knowing the difference between carbs, fats and proteins is important and understanding the role they play in your body is empowering, helping you to make good choices. Fats are not all bad for you and should be eaten regularly, as they are important building blocks for the body. A nutritional consultation can put you on the right path, understanding these issues will change your outlook:
MACROS | CARBOHYDRATES | PROTEINS | FATS | VITAMINS | MINERALS | DEFICITS AND SURPLUS | WATER INTAKE | DIETS
Sports Massage is a fantastic deeper tissue massage utilising multiple techniques to improve your physical wellbeing. I offer a full sports massage therapy service to help keep your active body moving at its best and performing well.
Any person taking part in regular physical activity that places demands on the body, such as gym sessions, weight training, sports and outdoor fitness, will place stress on the musculature of the body. Over time, that will affect physical performance. Sports massage therapy treatments, when used as a regular part of your healthy lifestyle, can reduce the symptoms that come from this, leaving you feeling refreshed and free of stress.
In our modern world, the days of hard physical graft are disappearing as technology takes over, and many of us find ourselves desk-bound. Although not physically demanding, it leads to repetitive actions that lead to muscle weakness and poor posture that can lead to pain and discomfort, particularly shoulders and back.
Benefits include: INCREASED RANGE OF MOVEMENTS | INCREASED FLEXIBILITY | DECREASED MUSCLE TENSION | DECREASED NEUROLOGICAL EXCITABILITY (RELAXED NERVES) | DECREASED MUSCLE SPASMS | BETTER SLEEP | REDUCED STRESS | IMPROVED OVERALL POSTURE
Reduced pain and improved recovery times for: MUSCULAR JOINT INJURIES | LOWER BACK PAIN | SHOULDER PAIN | HEADACHES | TENDON ISSUES | WHIPLASH | GOLFERS | TENNIS ELBOW | REPETITIVE STRAIN INJURIES
PRE & POST NATAL
Whilst you may think that once your baby arrives it’s business as usual exercise-wise, that is actually not the case.
PRE-NATAL: The female body undergoes major changes during pregnancy and exercise has a big role to play. Strength training and fitness training are actually encouraged, and are extremely beneficial to both mother and child, helping your long term health and increasing your chances of a trouble-free delivery.
POST-NATAL: Careful structured exercise is required to return to your pre-natal body shape and considerations must be made to ensure your body heals fully from the demands of delivery. These exercises can affect everything from your ongoing health and wellbeing and even your sex life.
There are many misleading stories out there regarding exercises when pregnant, and you should only trust a qualified pre and postnatal specialist like myself to make sure you are doing the best for yourself and your child.
Many people have been training for some time and are comfortable going it alone, yet struggle to see the results that they are looking for. My online coaching service is a personalised system where your workouts are designed specifically for you and delivered via my custom app, with full instructions and video demos to ensure that you get it correct.
Nutritional guidance is supplied along with fantastic recipe ideas to help you avoid food boredom and falling into bad habits. 24/7 email support is also provided, and body assessment visits can be organised alongside at an additional cost.
Benefits: PERSONALISED | ACCOUNTABILITY | CUSTOM DOWNLOADABLE APP | EMAIL SUPPORT | USE YOUR OWN GYM/EQUIPMENT | LOWER COST THAN 1:1 PERSONAL TRAINING
